Behavioral Economics Research at the Boston Fed
What happened to the Research Center for Behavioral Economics?
In substance, it’s still here. Anat Bracha and her research assistant, Lynn Conell-Price, remain valuable contributors to the research and policy advisory work of the research department. Only the formal entity and separate web presence of the Center are being discontinued.
Why is this change occurring?
When the Center was established, behavioral economics was a relatively new field, and the best way to incorporate it into the policy decisionmaking process was not obvious. Since that time, it has become clear that for policymaking to take greater advantage of the insights offered by the behavioral approach, a better integration of the behavioral economists into the parts of the research department responsible for policy deliberations would be necessary.
