Conferences

Consumer Behavior and Payment Choice: Summer Workshop July 25, 2008

In contrast to the previous conferences, this is an academic-style workshop to provide an informal environment to promote extensive interaction and exchange of ideas.

Second Annual Research Conference
July 25-27, 2006
Building on the Bank’s inaugural effort to understand the demand or consumer side of the retail payments market,  this two-day conference brought together academic and private sector researchers, and payments system participants to further explore consumer payment issues such as data developments and analysis, emerging payment technologies, public policies, and other topics.

How and Why Do Consumers Choose Their Payment Methods?
October 27-28, 2005
This conference brought together economic researchers and payments system participants to explore what we know and don’t know about how consumers choose among payment methods and about the implications of their decisions for saving, consumption, and portfolio allocation. Held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, October 27-28, 2005.

Events

2007 EPRG Contactless Forum May 21, 2007
The Emerging Payments Research Group hosted a forum that brought together invited industry experts, academics, and Federal Reserve System payments professionals to explore consumer and merchant payment choices related to contactless (RFID) technology, examine security risks and vulnerabilities with RFID-enabled payments, and finally look at future adoption—the barriers and the opportunities with contactless smart cards. A roundtable discussion encouraged open dialogue among participants.
