offered by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston provide
an opportunity for students to learn about monetary
policy, consumer education, basic economics, and economic

Fed Challenge
The
FED CHALLENGE Competition promotes economic
literacy by asking students to analyze economic conditions
and recommend an appropriate course for monetary policy.
The competition encourages the development of important
skills such as: research and analysis; decision-making;
argument formulation; and effective communication. High schools, colleges, and community colleges can compete.
LifeSmarts
LifeSmarts, “the ultimate consumer challenge,” is an educational competition that builds the consumer and marketplace knowledge and skills of teenagers. The competition focuses on 4 key areas: technology & the environment, personal finance, consumer rights & responsibilities and health & safety. The teens first compete individually online through their school or organization to qualify to be part of a team of five. The top scoring teams are chosen to compete with other MA schools at the State Championship held here at the Fed. The state champions then go on to an all expense paid trip to compete at the National Competition which is held in a different state each year.
Massachusetts School Bank Association (MSBA) Conference and Competition
This conference is a competition where partnering banks and schools come to compete on topics such as identity theft, the Federal Reserve System, credit, and many other topics.
Reserve Cup 2006
On Tuesday, November 21st six high school teams, one from each of the New England states, participated in a quiz bowl-like competition, answering questions from personal finance, economics, financial literacy and "Fed Ed." Essex High School from Essex Junction, Vermont won the 2006 Reserve Cup in double overtime. This demonstration/ competition was the kick-off for the Bank's Economic Literacy Campaign. A taped version of the 2006 Reserve Cup was broadcast by New England Cable News (NECN) on December 17th at 9PM and December 19th at 8PM. |
